Wild Saplings (Ages 4-7) : Will meet on Wednesdays at Lake Farm!
Group 1 : FULL (taking waitlist)
Group 2: 2-3 spots available. Please inquire at [email protected]
Our Saplings "school year" program is geared towards ages 4-7. In this group we will explore the natural world and experience the magic, awe, and wonder that the land and creatures have to offer. We will use our imaginations to become animals, a stone, a plant or tree. We will experience mud and the world of insects, we will harvest plants to make tea to warm us on a chilly day, we will listen to stories that teach us about nature, we will create using what we find, we will play lots of games, climb, and maybe build a fort or 2 or 3 or 4! We will smell, touch, see, and listen.
We will start with opening circle that we encourage parents and anyone along for the drop off attend. In these circles we sing a song, share gratitude, and play a game. After the game is over we ask that parents leave and the Saplings will continue into their adventure for that day. We invite parents/caregivers and anyone along for the pick up, to arrive 15 minutes early to hear the story of the Sapling's day. An underlying goal of Wild Harvest groups is to support healthy relationship to the land, to ourselves, and each other. Our groups instill a sense of community and belonging to the human and more than human world. As we follow the rhythms of nature and the seasons, we develop a deep sense of kinship with the land. We learn to slow down, be aware of our surroundings, and be comfortable in nature.
Covid Considerations
Our bottom line is maintaining safety in our groups and allowing those who feel most vulnerable to participate if they would like to.
Covid Protocols
We will pay attention to science, public heath, Dane County orders, and more importantly those who feel most vulnerable will take priority in our protocols regarding Covid. If you would like to participate and have needs around Covid precautions or any concerns please reach out to us. Our protocols are updated alongside current local and federal public health recommendations, community spread data, and recommendations from our grandparent council.
We are currently not wearing masks or distancing outside, although we are sensitive to the needs of each participant family. Each cohort has an agreement based on needs of participating folks.
We ask that folks Stay Home: Please keep kids at home if they have knowlingly come into direct contact with anyone with Covid or if they themselves have cold or flu symptoms or if anyone in their home has cold or flu symptoms. Please contact mentors and [email protected] (Heather) to let them know and we will talk about next steps.
*Upon registering for any programs, you will receive a Parent Orientation that has a section on Covid and goes into a bit more detail.
